This year, instead of doing an exhibit, I'm going to be doing an XT-IDE build/test workshop at VCF East! I'm posting this thread/poll to try and determine interest, since I have to bring enough kits, soldering equipment, et c. to meet needs.
XT-IDE rev 3 info: http://www.glitchwrks.com/xt-ide
The plan is to have a dedicated area for kit building ALL THREE DAYS at VCF East XII this year. Full kits will be available for sale, and I'll be there with equipment and hardware to help people build them up, test them, and take home a 100% working XT-IDE. Planning on bringing the following:
* IBM 5160 PC/XT for testing
* XUB software on various media formats
* Blank 3.5" and 5.25" floppies so people can take their own copy of the XUB utilities
* All required assembly tools and materials
* Desoldering equipment in case of assembly problems
* Slot 8 Support boards for those who want them (assembled and unassembled, try your hand at surface mount, or not!)
* Flash modules for those who want a module
* Limited paper copies of the assembly manual (still working on it, not done yet)
There may be other related projects/options available, depending on what I get finished by April!
Please add to the survey included with this post. If I missed something or you have an idea or something to add, please reply to the thread!
