Vintage newbie here - Tandy story and questions

First, I got a Tandy 1000 SX in 1988 when I was 13. I did some serious upgrades to it, but I find myself missing the basic aspects of TGA and the 3 voice sound of it. I had upgraded the SX to 640k, got a 720k drive in it, got a soundblaster (pro?), and eventually I was running two hard cards in it though it fried something. I believe after that I was only running one hard card. By the early 1990s I wanted VGA and all that stuff so I sold it except my, oh, I even got the keyboard adapter for it, still have that, so I could hook a 101 key keyboard to it. Anyways, I sold it all except the keyboard adapter and the DMP 130A printer which still is in the basement of my parents' house.

Recently I bought a Tandy 1000 HX, which someone where thinks has 384k ram, and I also bought a SL and a TL. Problem with those is the TL, which has two 3.5" drives and one 5.25" as well as a hard card (I'm guessing 30 megs), the video doesn't work. I connect the CM-5 monitor to it that came with the SL, and it just shows gibberish. If I connect the monitor to the SL, the monitor works, shows bootup till where it asks me to enter the date. Problem is the keyboard is only typing gibberish so I'm waiting for a new keyboard. I hope it will be compatible. Any ideas why the video doesn't work with the TL? I bought also an 8 bit VGA card from ebay, just in case. I'd prefer the TGA mode because I dunno if tandy sound will work in VGA mode. HOpefully the keyboard and VGA card will arrive soon. The person I bought the TL from said video would display when he hooked a CM-11 monitor to it. I don't understand why there would be any difference. Just dot pitch was the difference between those monitors. SO the monitor definetely works, as I can see with the SL.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm not very familiar again, with tech stuff, as I quit computers after Windows replaced DOS, so I'm really really stretching my memory trying to read the stuff on here.
