So, just a few days before I am planning to show off my Compaq Portable at VCFSE, the original Rodime 10mb hard drive - that had been working mostly fine - decided to have a major head crash. Thew in my one spare Seagate 5.25" MFM drive and it is back up an running.
But I was looking at the hard disk controller and I was wondering if these jumpers on here are anything useful? Googling around, I can't seem to find any information on this specific controller model.
The drive I put in there is a 40mb drive, but this controller is hard-coded to only see 10mb. It would be nice if it happened to support a larger drive type selectable via jumpers, but I suspect the only way to change that is to burn a modified ROM.
Of course, the right tool for the job would be another XT-IDE. :D
