VFX-1 Headgear display problem

Greetings, people!

Long time no see!

A year ago, my parents let me get an early VR Headset called the Forte VFX-1 Headgear.

It's been working well after I had done some component replacements, that is, until Christmas Eve 2016. It developed a fault in the left-hand eyepiece, where the video showed either vertically-streaky video, or video that very rapidly flipped between a black screen, a grey screen, and regular video (like a video desync.).

I figured one of the problems was that the flat-flex cables that fed the video signal were old and brittle, so I got some new cables. At first, it didn't quite work, then I realized that the connector ports may have become distorted, pulling some of the port contacts away from the flat cable, so I squeezed the ports a bit with a pair of flat-pronged pliers. It seemed to work, as now I have video in both eyepieces, except that the left eyepiece now has a strange amber tint to it, like someone put an amber filter over the full-color image, and sometimes the image develops dark and light phase patterns. (Like taking a picture of a television set.) I'm figuring that a color signal is not making it through to the LCD driver.

I was wondering, is there anything I can do to fix this?
