I finally felt up to sitting down with the model 3 I got recently, and admittedly I'm new to the DOS aspect of TRS-80s.. I booted from a few different versions of DOS I had for it, LDOS, NEWDOS, TRSDOS.. So I decided to make a back up LDOS to use, formatted a new floppy ok.. then went to reboot, and just nothing. I tried cold boots of the other DOS's, same thing, no "diskette?" prompt either.
But if I hold the Break key down it will boot to Cass?, Cass? Mem Size? and a normal Basic prompt.
So before I go tearing in to it blindly I wanted to ask for suggestion?
THe floppy LED does come on for a bit, and I can hear the motor in the drive. My guess would be drive belt failure, drive as a whole.. or controller failure.. but that's just guessing...
