I got recently a few commodore disk drives that have some issues. I have a working 1541 (the one that probably came in the era of the C64, brown in color), a VIC-1541 (probably the VIC model) and a 1571 for C128. Of the 3, only the C64 version is working just fine.
For the VIC 1541 we were able to swap the 6522 chips from the working 1541 as they are selected, and it is clear that I need to replace at least one of them.
The 1571 is a bit trickier, as the chips are soldered and are 6522-2 (probably 2 Mhz versions) but when we investigated the behavoir from the VIC 1541 we thing the same chips are to blame. We also thing we should change the mn50005xca chips.
Is there someone selling these here? If not, where can I get them and decent price and shipping to Canada?
