Hi! Just got this off of ebay: an almost new-looking GNT2910 tape reader!
It's a high-speed optical reader that should be really simple: 12-24V goes in, tape goes in, RS232 comes out.
Apparently, the tape reader mechanism is the exactly same that's in the well known GNT-4606 punch/reader combo.
Mine is made for rack mounting, obviously, but it also comes as a desktop model.
I'm curious, has anyone used this/know this? There's very little info on it on the webs (there's a brochure on GNT's website, but nothing technical)
It's supposed to just commence reading on either XON/XOFF commands or RTS/CTS, but I can't really get that working.. It does spin up nicely upon powering up, though!
