Hello,
Earlier today I dug out my IBM 5150, Model F Keyboard, and Color Monitor to work on it. Whenever I would boot it up it would tell my that there is a bad chip in bank two and then display "Parity Error 1". I reconfigured the DIP Switches and limited the computer to 128kb of RAM. After I did that computer booted up to Cassette BASIC fine. The problem is when I powered off the computer and plugged in the Model F keyboard, the computer would no longer boot. Then second the keyboard is removed thought the computer boots and displays Cassette BASIC. I have two videos of it booting with and without a keyboard
With Keyboard
Without Keyboard
Another thing I noticed was after 15 minutes of having my Color Monitor on, when I powered it off after I was done it made a loud cracking noise and tripped the surge protector on the power strip. This only happens after extended use of the monitor. Should I be concerned about this?
Any ideas on what could be causing there problems?
Thank You
EDIT: I just tested the 5150 with my spare Heathkit (H100?) keyboard and that one works fine with my 5150, so it may be a problem with the Model F itself. Still haven't fixed that monitor thought.
