AST Premium 286 Model 140 keyboard failure

Hi all,

I'm getting 2 short beeps when starting up my AST 286.

http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/astbeep.htm says it's "The keyboard controller has failed"

whereas http://www.textfiles.com/computers/ASTRESEARCH/0366.tb says that it's LOCKED UP
and I should call AST Research for assistance. ;-)

I'm guessing they probably won't answer the call, even if I could find a number.

Hoping someone can help.

P.s. Initially I tried my IBM PC keyboard (XT) which I believe resulted in the LOCK UP.
I'm now trying another keyboard with AT+XT modes and trying it as an AT keyboard.
No result.
